EU-US Data Privacy Framework Ensures Safe Data Transfers

By

US companies can now self-certify compliance with the framework.

The European Commission (EC) has adopted an adequacy decision for the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. “The decision concludes that the United States ensures an adequate level of protection – comparable to that of the European Union – for personal data transferred from the EU to US companies under the new framework,” the announcement states.

This decision means that “personal data can flow safely from the EU to US companies participating in the Framework, without having to put in place additional data protection safeguards.”

Additionally, U.S. companies can now self-certify their compliance with the EU-US Data Privacy Framework to facilitate cross-border transfers of personal data in compliance with EU law.
