CNCF Partners with Andela on Training Initiative for African Tech Pros

The program will provide free training in cloud-native basics.

The Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) has partnered with Andela, a global talent outsourcing company, to train 20,000 to 30,000 African tech professionals in cloud-native fundamentals.

Through the free training, which is scheduled to begin next year, participants will have the opportunity to train for the Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate (KCNA) and the Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) certifications.

According to the announcement, cloud-native developers are in high demand, and a recent survey by CNCF said that “almost 55% of developers landed a new job as a result of training and certification courses.” However, 81% said that cost prevented them from completing such certifications.

“By standardizing cloud-native knowledge, developers across the globe can confidently work toward certifications that will enable them to land developer positions both within their own countries and globally," said Chris Aniszczyk, CTO at the CNCF.
