Tips for Cutting Your Cloud Costs
Cloud costs have become an expense that organizations must increasingly manage, and the first step in reducing those costs is “creating a culture of measurement,” said Phillip Wittrock, an Apple software engineer, in a panel discussion at the recent KubeCon+Cloud NativeCon Europe 2023.
In the “Cloud Computing’s First Economic Recession? Let’s Talk Platform Efficiency” session, the panel examined three main categories of reducing costs: culture, operations, and design, reports Loraine Lawson.
“It can also be hard to figure out whose problem it is to increase efficiencies and cut costs,” said Aparna Subramanian, director of product engineering infrastructure at Shopify. “That’s why it should be a cross-team effort with a financial practice or center of excellence component to it.”
