The latest version is based on Debian 12 Bookworm.

Tails 6.0, based on Debian 12 “Bookworm” and GNOME 43, has been officially released, reports Marius Nestor.

The latest version of this security-focused Linux distribution includes many new features and updates, such as:

  • Error detection for Persistent Storage to help diagnose hardware failures
  • Protection against malicious USB devices
  • Support for automatically mounting external devices

Tails 6.0 ships with the GNOME 43 desktop environment by default and is available from the website now.
