Microsoft CBL-Mariner Now Supports Kernel Live Patching
Microsoft has released the latest iteration of their in-house Linux distribution used for powering services on Azure and Windows Subsystem for Linux and it now includes Kpatch to support kernel live patching as well as PXE Boot (found in the Mariner installer). This new release of CBL-Mariner (version 2.0.20220617) also includes Golan 1.18.3, Ncurses 6.3, Redis 6.2.7, and Linux kernel 5.15.45.1 LTS.
Other new features/changes to CBL-Mariner include OpenJDK 11, NodeJS 16.14.2, Ruby 3.1.2, Rust 1.59.0, and Glibc 2.35.
This new release also marks the transition for the RPM database from Berkely DB to SQLite for a more robust and feature-rich database. Because of this, it’s important that you do not attempt to upgrade from a 1.0 release to the 2.0 release. Instead, install a fresh instance of 2.0, otherwise, things will break.
