Apache Kafka 4.0 Released
Apache has released version 4.0 of Apache Kafka, an open source, distributed event streaming platform used for high-performance data pipelines, streaming analytics, and more.
Apache Kafka 4.0 represents a significant milestone, according to the blog post, and it is the first major release to completely replace Apache ZooKeeper with the KRaft protocol. This change simplifies deployment and management by “eliminating the complexity of maintaining a separate ZooKeeper ensemble,” says David Jacot, and it reduces overhead, enhances scalability, and streamlines administrative tasks.
Another change is the general availability of the next generation of the consumer rebalance protocol (KIP-848), which “increases the stability and the performance of consumer groups while simplifying clients.”
