Why Use SSDs?
Both hard-disk drives (HDD) and solid-state drives (SSD) store data in a non-volatile medium so that it will not be lost when the power is turned off, explains David Both. “Both drive technologies store the operating system, application programs, and your data so that they can be moved into main memory (RAM) for use.”
However, Both says SSDs have certain advantages over HDD devices, namely: SSDs have no moving parts to wear out, and they are fast.
