Top Certifications for Data Center Security

See certification options focused on operational technology, physical security, and more.

Most security certifications available today focus on roles and functions outside of data centers, says Christopher Tozzi. However, certain security certifications can still be useful for those working in the data center industry.

For example, Tozzi notes, data center security may include aspects of software security, operational technology security, and physical security threats. This article lists useful certification options within these categories, including:

  • CISSP – A general information security certification from ISC2.
  • CSF LI – This certification attests to expertise in NIST’s cybersecurity framework.
  • GISCP – Focuses on security for industrial control systems.
  • IoT Fundamentals Certificate – Covers risks, governance, and security threats accompanying this evolving technology.
  • PSP – Covers key aspects of physical security and its role in supporting other security domains (like software security).
