Open Storage Network Adds More Sites

By

The network supports data storage and sharing through the NSF ACCESS program.

The Open Storage Network (OSN), which offers low-cost, sustainable distributed data storage for the research community, is adding storage nodes in the United States to expand the network and address growing needs.

The OSN, which was established in 2018, “supports allocations of up to 50 terabytes at no charge to researchers via ACCESS, as well as paid participation for entities with larger needs,” the announcement says.

“We built the Open Storage Network on the premise that a collaborative effort, rooted in the research computing community, could address an acute need for simple and cost-efficient storage and sharing of scientific data. Results so far have exceeded expectations,”

said Alex Szalay, founder of the OSN project.

You can get an allocation or learn how to host a pod at the Open Storage Network.
