Flox Releases Core Management Tools for Nix

By

Flox is a virtual environment and package manager all in one.

Flox has launched two core tools to help take some of the complexity out of Nix, reports Joab Jackson. Billed as an alternative to Docker, “Nix offers cross-platform reproducibility to app deployment, and Flox will offer some much needed management, security and collaboration features.”

One tool “is an open source command-line interface (CLI) for managing Nix environments, and the other is Flox Hub, a cross-platform cloud build service for creating and sharing Nix components,” Jackson says.

According to the announcement, Flox was built “to take the best declarative parts of Nix, wrap them in a user experience you are familiar with, and offer centralization in the right places so individuals (and enterprises) can manage their applications comfortably.”
