StackIQ Updates Rocks+

The updated version of Rocks+ makes managing “Big Data” clusters easier with the addition of new Hadoop graphical management features.

StackIQ (formerly Clustercorp) has announced the availability of Rocks+ 6.0.1, an update to the company’s software suite for automating deployment and management of large-scale infrastructures. The 6.0.1 release adds new Hadoop management features and high-performance computing features.

According to the announcement, in addition to the new Hadoop graphical management features, the new release also expands the choice of high-performance computing workload managers with updated software modules (called “Rolls”) for CUDA, OFED, Solarflare, Moab, and Univa Grid Engine. Additionally, the new packaging of Rolls allows users to tailor a Rocks+ solution to meet their own requirements.

Rocks+ HPC is the commercial edition of Rocks that provides an end-to-end cluster operating environment to manage the Linux operating system (Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, CentOS 6, Oracle Linux 6), cluster management middleware, libraries, compilers, and monitoring tools. It features all the necessary software for building a state-of-the-art HPC cluster.

According to the announcement, the Rocks+ product, based on open source Rocks cluster management software developed by the Rocks Cluster Group at the San Diego Supercomputer Center, simplifies the hardware and software infrastructure management for large-scale environments having hundreds or thousands of servers.
