The 64-bit server install image on this month's CD is for computers with the AMD64 or EM64T architecture (e.g., Athlon64, Opteron, EM64T Xeon, Core 2). Ubuntu Server emphasizes scale-out computing, whether you are administering an OpenStack cloud, a Hadoop cluster, or a massive render farm.

New to 14.04 LTS is guest certification on AWS, Microsoft Azure, Joyent, IBM, and HP Cloud; updates to a number of key packages (e.g., Qemu, libvirt, LXC, MySQL, Docker); and Open vSwitch 2.0 with full kernel integration. OpenStack is certified by Microsoft to host Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2008 R2 as guests and is now compatible with the CloudFoundry PaaS platform.

Ubuntu Server 14.04 supports every HP Moonshot server cartridge and includes cloud tools such as MAAS for automated provisioning and Juju for service orchestration. The powerful array of deployment and management tools included on this CD will help you bring up and maintain hyperscale workloads with minimal complexity.
