Red Hat has announced the general availability of Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization Engine, which is focused on virtualization workloads, along with Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Virtualization, aimed at unifying virtual machine management at scale.
The OpenShift Virtualization Engine simplifies the process of deploying, managing, and scaling virtual machines (VMs), with key features including:
- Bare-metal deployment, supporting up to 128 cores per bare-metal socket pair, which is double the previous amount.
- Over-the-air updates.
- Dedicated virtualization administrator view within the web-based management UI.
- Automated provisioning of virtual machines with OpenShift GitOps.
- Enhanced virtual machine platform logging.
Additionally, Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management for Virtualization provides “a centralized platform for managing virtual machines throughout their lifecycle with consistency and compliance,” according to the website. And, it integrates with the Ansible Automation Platform to help automate tasks and increase operational efficiency.
