With features like native snapshots, Btrfs is supposed to become the next generation filesystem on Linux. Distributions like Fedora or Meego are thinking about making it the default filesystem in upcoming releases, however it is still in development. Main developer Chris Mason, who is the Director of Linux Kernel Engineering at Oracle, talks about the current state of Btrfs development and delivers an outlook on the filesystem's future.
